An emergency stop system that activates when on-site workers carrying IC tags inside a magnetic field are detected
Overview
This system is designed to stop pneumatic tired rollers in an emergency if an on-site worker carrying an IC tag mistakenly enters the magnetic field generated behind the rollers. This system is the first in Japan to receive “Safety 2.0” certification from the Institute of Global Safety Promotion (IGSAP) on February 28, 2018.
Features
- If a worker carrying an IC tag mistakenly enters a magnetic field, the pneumatic tired roller will automatically stop in an emergency, thereby preventing a contact accident.
- The adoption of an RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) system for this purpose enables detection without interference by dense fog, dust, smoke, or other obstacles, thereby improving safety.
- The adoption of an RFID system improves safety by enabling detection within a magnetic field irrespective of the orientation of the IC tag.
- During system operations, a rotating light affixed to the pneumatic tired roller will illuminate to allow the operator to verify whether the system is operating; in this way, workability is enhanced.
- Since the detection area only encompasses the area behind each pneumatic tired roller, a worker working beside this vehicle would not be mistakenly detected.
Note: This system constitutes an auxiliary safety system and does not guarantee 100% safety. Do not fail to assign monitors to ensure that people are not too physically close to heavy equipment.
Uses
- Safety measures when engaging in paving work (avoiding contact accidents when pneumatic tired rollers back up)
