MARRON ASPHALT is a generic term for asphalt mixtures that have been colorized with a red-earth pigment, which imparts a maroon (chestnut) color. Mixtures with MARRON in the name include Marron Guss (Gussasphalt), Marron Dick (thin layer), Marron Porous (permeable), and Marron Cork (elastic).

This paving method uses colored aggregates in the asphalt mixture. By using petroleum resin-based decolorizing binder in the mixture or adding pigments to colorize the mixture, the effect of colorization can be enhanced. The applicable construction methods can be divided into two major types: (1) one involving the use of colored aggregates for aggregates in the mixture and (2) one for which colored aggregates are press-fitted into or affixed to the surface of the surface layer.

This colored hot mix asphalt is prepared using a petroleum resin-based decolorizing binder and colored with pigments. The paving method is the same as that which is used for ordinary asphalt pavement.

This water-permeable colored hot mix asphalt is prepared using a petroleum resin-based decolorizing binder and pigments and other coloring agents. It is a water-permeable version of Perfect Color M.

This pavement is effective in helping shape landscapes and implementing traffic safety measures by harnessing the light-reflecting properties of a special aggregate (optical aggregate).
